Literature Review

Effects of the mobile phone modern society.

I can not dispute the fact that the introduction of the mobile phone since the late 80s and early 90s has certainly made the world move a lot faster and also made it smaller in term of the massive improvement in global communication.

Many would argue that it has been the best thing since slice bread, but on the other hand people have gotten so use to the comfort of carrying one around in total ignorance of the scientific damaging effects it can have on our health. According to a report by Dr. Mae-Wan Ho posted on http://www.i-sis.org.uk/FOI2.php it clearly show a link between Cancer cell growth and mobile phone radiation.

As if that wasn't bad enough, We now have to contend with thousands of masts being erected in and around our neighbourhood which carry greater damaging radiation threat to our health According to a document produced by Dr Blackwell G. 21st Feb 2005 posted on the Internet site http://www.vws.org/documents/Summary-6studiesreMasts.pdf. but regardless of all the bad reports about the mobile phone's health hazards, we can not help to appreciate that life without this piece of equipment in this modern day of technological boom would be unthinkable, though one can argue that there are other means of communication such as the land line phone or email etc. but the comparison of the mobile phone is far more greater than any other piece of communication device ever invented. Most people this days go as far as saying they are missing an arm if they forget or lose their mobile phone, it is that serious. why? because it serves the user in so many ways, for instance carrying a mobile can be used as a Diary, an Alarm system, Entertainment system (Audio and Video) an Internet surfing device, and as we now know, it is now being used as a means of Identification and to make payment in some high street shops and train stations.

There are a lot more emotional connection with the user and their mobile phone not mentioned, But in conclusion, Despite the fact that one tends to find a lot of articles written against the usage of mobiles, The general consensus is that the advantages far outweighs the warnings and health hazard.
